High in the mountains of Albania, in the rugged, wildflower-filled region of Lungeria, a quiet resilience lives. For decades, these families lived under a regime that suppressed their most sacred treasures: their deen (faith) and their ability to provide for themselves with independence.
Livelihoods were lost to conflict, and the freedom to practice religion was once forbidden. Today, many widowed mothers in these rural villages still struggle. But they do not want a handout—they want to rebuild their lives with dignity.
